Do I have a reason to hate my family?

Question

Weird question..but when I turn 18 I just want to lose contact with them forever

- my dad's a jerk that abandoned me. I met him recently for the first time and all he did was go on and on about how perfect his life is and that he traded in my old mom (who's 10 years younger than him btw) for a new and better family.

- my mom's a workaholic and yeah I would believe that whole "she does it for me" thing if she didn't spend all her free time out with her friends and boyfriend, not even with me. and she's mean to me...she calls me fat..ugly..tells me I have a big head..calls me a s**t..all that. I'll be like omg that boy (on tv or something) is soo cute, she'll be like ugh you horn dog. and not in a kidding way..

- my grandparents are homophobic and racist. you know how recently bernie mac died? I told my grandpa and he's like good..he's black. and I'm like what?!? and he's like black people deserve to die.

- no siblings or cousins

- all my family does it talk c**p about each other...even about newborn babies..

Maybe your mom is just mad because your dad left her and you so she takes her anger out on you.Now WTF is wrong with your grandfather oh lord please him this dude. I don't understand why people are racist. We are the SAME maybe our skin color is different but we are all the SAME people need to understand that.Yes and you do have a reason to hate your family. But you shouldn't. Anyway if you guys are cristian ask them if they keep acting like this how would there after life turn out they might not give D@mn but when it happends to them they will find out. But yes you can lose connection with them as soon as you turn 18. But make sure you have a friends house to stay at for about a month or until you start college.  But dont say goodbye to your family. But I dotn understand your family for another reason. How do you start talking smack to a newborn? Now thats a real problem. Maybe you guys could go to family consuling.

sounds all nice and dandy even though he may not be the best person its really hard to move out on your own and not have any help....i thought i was never gonna talk to my dad again and it was all fine up untill i had a flat tire and rent was due in a couple days....so if you can do it great...but im just saying its gonna be hard

i know its so hard to deal with parents and family that dont even have a clue. you are doing good by not being like them. i think you should take what you are dealt and learn from it. hopefully you will never abandon your child, or ignore them, and love everyone for who they are not their race. you can learn a lot from people who just dont get it. you can love them for teaching you the correct way to live

No family is perfect. Yours has a lot of problems but so does everyone else. How are you reacting to all of this? It doesn't seem like you are trying to add any thing postive to this picture. Eventually you will realize that despite their faults, they are family and you may well need them some day. Try to stay positive and be happier around them. It might wear off.

You have plenty of reason to be angry with your family and cut contact with them. But afterwards you may just want to move on, anger only destroys the person carring it.

You can technically get emancipated right now if possible.  But once you turn 18 you can move out of your mothers womb and get your life, without so much as a goodbye sure.

wow thts all very harsh

it especially sucks that you dont have any siblings to deal with the same things you are.. it would be a whole lot easier.. and the person above me is right. you can move out very soon. especially since college is coming up
