Do I have a shot at an ivy league university if I graduate high school early?

I have high GPA and I have taken all AP classes throughout high school and middle school. I'm an honor roll student and I usually get straight As but sometimes B. I have taken all my SATs and have a high score on all of them. I also took a few dual courses. So, do I have any chance of going to a good university?

  1. Yes, well concerning you graduating high school early (which really means you're intelligent) and being an honor roll student, sure you have a good chance. However, if you haven't already, get some extracurricular activities in there. And concerning the scores on your SAT....well, if you have a 2200 or higher, you'll do just fine.

If you don't mind, will you choose me as the best answer?

    I understand if you don't...

  2. Sure, with top grades and scores you have a chance. But graduating early will usually hurt as it give you one less year to excel in the all important EC activities which are as important at the ivies as your quantitative stats.

Ivies will give you no extra credit for graduating early, they will still expect some passion taken to an extremely accomplished level.

  3. We don't have enough information.  If you have more than one or two Bs, probably not.  We also don't know whatyou consider to be a high score on the SAT.  I needs to be along the lines of 2200 or better at most, if not all, of the Ivies.

  4. You may have a slight chance, but you sort of need to be more specific. How many B's have you gotten? What was your score for the SAT's?

Have you/do you take any extracurriculars? Sports, etc.?

  5. Depends. You have everything but it's definitely not guaranteed. Think about what you can accomplish with an extra year, such as improving your extracurriculars. My friend was in similar position, he graduated by his junior year and basically attended college a year ahead of everyone else in his class. He had straight A's (4.3 or 4.4 weighted gpa), a 2390 SAT, 800's on all the SAT II's he took, 5's on all his APs (about 10 of them) and had a handful of business related awards. Even with these spectacular achievements, the only colleges he got into were UC Davis, UC Berkeley and USC. He failed to gain admissions to any Ivy League ( Wharton was his top choice) and Stanford. He ended up going to UC Berkeley. To maximize your chances, make sure to get excellent recommendations and to remove all doubt from the admissions people that you are mature enough to succeed in a college environment.
