Question:

Do I have a virus in my computer

My internet explorer has been freezing up quite a bit lately.

This message keeps coming up when it happens

"Microsof Visual C Runtime Libray

Runtime Error"

And it says something about the application requesting runtime to terminate it in an unusual way

I keep scanning my computer using Norton's anti virus and every time it says there are no viruses found.

But when this message comes up I notice that the shield icon(anti virus icon) shows an exclamation mark

Does anyone have any advice?

  1. I think Internet Explorer is far superior to the other explorers. I do think you have a virus and you need to run a virus check with your virus checking program. If you don't have one, there are several on line that are free, so wishing you good luck.

  2. you could have a data mining/adaware/keylogger program which techniccally aren't viruses. try changing your browser to Mozilla foxfire, and go to smartcomputing.com,browse their trouble shooting section

Norton antivirus is just one of the programs you should have- try system mechanic too

  3. It's not that you have a virus, it's that Internet Explorer just doesn't do the job right.

You should use another web browser such as Firefox (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/)

  4. Restart your PC in safe mode with networking

Download, install and run a full scan with Malwarebytes

    http://www.malwarebytes.org

Run a full scan with Micro Trend House Call

    http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

After the scans, restart the PC and update your anti-virus, remember to only have one anti-virus installed on your PC
