When I was 8 I was diagnosed with dyspraxia at the time I didn't know what it was then I moved country at 10 and my parents told my new school about it and after a few tests the confirmed this.I have since moved again and its been 8 years now I don't know if I can grow out of it or if I still have it. After looking up on different sites I don't think I had it in the first place because they say people can't hold things very well or speak good. Now I do have some signs such as I am clumsy, I can't write very well to the point that most 10 year olds right better than me, my coordination is bad, I find it really hard to concentrate and other little things like this. However Its not that bad as I can still play the guitar though with much difficulty(I don't know if its down to dyspraxia) anyway I'm confused do I have it, did I have it, have I grown out of it?

  1. Dyspraxia simply means difficulty with coordination and motor planning.  However, many people with dyspraxia can excel at specific motor tasks with repetition.  For example, I have dyspraxia but can type at 60 WPM, play the flute, and do intricate beadwork.  Now I had to work like crazy to acquire these skills and still have trouble with coordination in general.

Like most disabilities, you learn coping strategies with time.  And is a label all that important?  It's good if you need accommodations or are looking for a support group.  Other than that, just enjoy what you can do and let time take care of the rest.
