Do I have enough power to upgrade gfx card?

Hi.

My new PC has a 250 /300w power supply (factoty).

My gfx card is shite and would like very much to upgrade to a nice gaming gfx card.

Can I get a 250 / 300w rated gfx card ie: 9600GT or 8800GT or should (can) I chane power supply to say a 500w?

I just need a new tower as cheap as possible that can play medium level gaming.

a upgrade of the power supply is a must
