I ate one bite of Kirkland Premium Canned Chicken Breast about an hour ago. After I ate it, I realized that a strange-smelling, black substance formed around the edge of the can and some of it was spotted in the bowl that I ate it from.

I'm on hold with the doctor right now, but any encouragement from nurses and or experience persons would be very helpful...

I'm scared right now......

  1. Botulism is an infectious disease caused by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. Although rare, botulism is a serious paralytic illness caused by a nerve toxin, which is produced by the bacterium. This potent toxin blocks nerve function, leading to respiratory and musculoskeletal paralysis

Most cases of gastrointestinal symptoms (nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps and diarrhea) are due to viral infections and are not true cases of food poisoning. Diagnosis of true food poisoning is difficult because the many organisms are found in different kinds of food and all have different incubation periods.

In California, three main bacteria are implicated in the majority of food poisoning cases caused by invasive bacteria: campylobacter, salmonella and shigella. Staph aureus is also a common cause of bacterial food poisoning.
