Question:

Do I have gingivitis?

So, a few times when I'd floss or brush my teeth, my gums bled just a bit..

Does this mean that I have gingivitis?

I heard people say that if it bleeds you have gingivitis, and that your gums would be sore, but mine don't feel sore..

Also, is it possible to cure it by simply brushing more efficiantly?

  1. See a dentist, it doesn't sound like it but maybe.  If it isn't too far advanced you could probably be treated with antibiotics.

  2. Having bleeding gums often means you might have gingivitis. You could possibly cure it by brushing and flossing more. After starting a habit of flossing your gums daily, it will become healthier and it will stop bleeding.

  3. Do your gums look red? If so, I would say that it is gingivitis, in combination with the bleeding. Brushing at least 2 times a day, flossing daily and using a mouth rinse like Listerine should help, but you should see a dentist for a professional cleaning. The dentist can give you a prescription mouth rinse to get your gums in shape.
