Like if I run my fingers on something (Say a railing) If I do it lightly at first, I'll have to run my forgers over it with greater pressure to satisfy me. Like right now when I'm typing, I'll have to run my fingers over the spaces in between the keys again, and again. I'll pop and un pop my ears. Some times when I get the satisfaction of something like mentioned above, I'll have to clearly say "Done" quite loudly. When I look at the last word on a paragraph in a book, I'll have to say it out loud. Sometimes I'll have to line my head up and close my eyes when I see something lined up. Various, ridiculous things like these. Am I crazy, or OCD?

  1. nah- we all have our little quirks. its what makes us human- i wouldn't worry too much, it all sounds fairly normal. lots of people even talk to themselves when they are alone, doesn't mean they are crazy.

  2. If you feel distressed if you don't perform these "ridiculous" things, then you most likely have OCD. OCD is a physical illness with psychological symptoms. Folks are born with a hereditary predisposition for developing OCD. The strep virus brings out the symptoms. Researchers have implicated the part of the brain affected by OCD. In some rare, very severe cases, some folks have opted for brain surgery to correct the problem. Fortunately, Medications like SSRIs, particularly Paxil, do much to curb symptoms. If this interferes with your ability to function and feel "normal", you may want to speak with your doctor about a mental health evaluation.

  3. You do have some of the symptoms.

If it is really affecting you that much, I would consider seeing a psychiatrist. If they diagnose you there are several medications that help with OCD behavior. I have OCD repetitive negative thoughts.
