Do I have potential to be a fast runner?

I am currently 6'1, 145 pounds. I did running for around 5 years when I was younger and did very well at it. When I was around 14 I stopped all my running and basically became very lazy until i turned 20. I decided to try running again and trained for around 1 month.

I decided I wanted to see if I could run fast still and measured out 60 Meters in a park. (Longest flat part available to me)

On all three attempts I ran it at 7 seconds and used a stop watch.

My question is if I start doing some real training and try get on a diet plan do you think I could shave some time off and do good at 100 meters?

I want to try do some running competitions if there are any just for fun...what kinda times would I have to run for those to be allowed to compete?

  1. nope, you shouldn't be asking us if you have the potential or not. someone who actually knows your, like your mom or dad.

  2. are you black if yes :) VERY GOOD RUNNER

if no  :) VERY BAD DANCER

  3. dude anyone has potential is all depends on you."make your mind work for you-not against you" arnold.......all you gotta do is have the willpower.motivation.heart...but yeah u could get pretty fast if your up to the challenge..im not sure how fast you have to be to be allowed to compete..try some websites

  4. if you want to do 100m id advise bulk up, at 6'1 you want to be at least 170lbs. I also think the 7 secs is a bit inaccurate considering the 60m world record is 6.39. Don't give up however you don't need someone to tell you weather you have potential, if you want to run just run

  5. no usain bolt is better than you. quit.

  6. Sounds like you might have potential. Talk to a local high school coach, or a local community college coach if he agrees with me. You could learn a little more from a coach as to whether you have potential. Best of luck to you.

  7. yea you have potential you should be able to do the 100m in about 12s if you can do 60m in 7s. You should join a track group. However you should gain some weight, when i was 6'1 i was like 165 pounds and slim too.

  8. yea sure

    your tall enough.

what are you planning on doing with this.. i dont think there are 'just for fun' competitions
