Do I have right to ask neighbors not smoking in front of my door in California? ?

I live in an apartment. I have some kind of respirator problem and would cause server coughing when inhale certain amount of smoke. I politely asked the neighbor next door not to smoke in front of my door. The next thing I know was all other residences who smoke start smoking in front of my door. My room full of the smell of smoking all the time. Can I ask for legal help on this one?

And no, the landlord and manager don't care.

You were well within your rights to ask your neighbor to not smoke in front of your door. If they decided to be ignorant and the landlord won't help resolve the problem, call the cops and explain the situation.

You might post a sign on your door explaining that you have a respiratory illness, and would appreciate if people do not smoke outside your door.

Your "medical equipment" supply store should have signs available that state plainly and boldly...

NO SMOKING... OXYGEN EQUIPMENT IN OPERATION

Or something to that effect.  If these numb-nuts realize that their smoking might cause a FIRE, they'll STOP!!!  Post the signs (be sure to have extras, someone might tear them down in the beginning) at your front door.
