Hi,

I'm a senior in high school, only sixteen, but it's a long story.

Currently I am living in the US (due to my father working with the US military), but am not a citizen. Studied under the British O-level system my freshman and early sophomore years, so high school has been different for me.

My basic stats:

Tried to take the most challenging courses the guidance counselor could give me.

Weighted GPA: almost 4.4,

Have taken 4 AP courses (will take 2 more my senior year) and almost all other classes are Honors courses

Did some Dual-enrollment courses (English, Calculus) and got A's

Got straight A's my entire Sophomore and Junior years

Got straight A's on all on line classes (about 7)

Hoping to get straight A's senior year too.

Unfortunately, I succumbed to laziness (and plain not caring) my freshman year. Hence the lower GPA.

I have been involved in various extracurricular programs in my native Pakistan (from where I started my O-levels). Some involved "expeditions" into the Kashmir mountain region. I have also played a role in collecting aid for people effected by the 2005 earthquake in Pakistan. I've even helped at some small public schools for community service.

In America I've joined NHS and the National Society for High school scholars. I'm also hoping to play for the soccer team this semester.

I have taken the SAT twice (might take it one more time)

Maximum score 2040, CR and Math is 1340.

SAT 2: Math 1=710, Math 2=720, and Physics=700

With my resume, would any of you think I would have a chance for the above mentioned universities. If not, do you have any other "good" college suggestions? I'm planning on majoring in Business and Finance FYI and so college "name" is kind of important to me. Also, being an "international," would some sort of scholarship or aid be a far cry.

Thanks for your time and all responses welcome.

  1. You have a pretty good shot. I wouldn't be surprised if you did get in. You are probably one of the people they they will be looking for to diverse their student body.

    Good luck. :]

  2. You have a good, diverse background. If you play your cards right, highlighting your work for the earthquake relief, Kashmir trips, and your other extra-curricular activities, along with good grades and AP classes, there is a good chance for you to get in lots of good colleges.

Emory is a good choice. I would also suggest Columbia, Sloan (MIT), Princeton, Yale or SMU for your business schooling.
