Do I have the ability to tell when a spirit is near by or am I just going nuts?

I have always felt like something is there even when i don't see anything there. I also have always been able to tell when some one is near like trying to sneak up on me or what ever! Lately I have really been getting these feelings. I believe highly in the power of crystals so recently I have purchased a crystal pendlum and every time i feel the presence of something i ask the pendlum and it says that there is something there. The only reason I got the penplum is because not only do i feel these presences more and more but I am also starting to see things moving in shadows. My question is am I losing my mind or do I really have some kind of medium ability? There is more to it but to much to type but please if anybody has any answers for me let me know!!!!

As you can see....being declared "crazy" or "gifted" depends on who you're around...or who answers your question.  A psychic would say you've been given a gift...a skeptic would say it's an illusion or your imagination...a psychiatrist would say you're schizophrenic. I wonder what the TRUTH is!!  

There's another question on here about the Aboriginese that says that communicating psychically is normal for them.  Just like religion. It depends on which group you're around and which  area of the world. Also..just because somebody SAYS you're "crazy"...doesn't mean you are....but being told that you are can sometimes drive you "crazy".

Oh wow. You sound just like me when I started realizing that I was psychic. You seem to be an energy sensory psychic. Which is different for different people, but for me, it's more of an extended sense of touch. It's like you can feel outside of your body. You can feel when someone walks into the room or if there is someone standing behind you or walking just around the corner without hearing or seeing them. It's a bit different from 'normal' psychic powers because it's not like your seeing dead people or hearing voices, you may have had it all your life and never known that you were experiencing something different than what other people call normal.

Now there are several ways to handle it and different ways to approach your abilities. One, you can live in fear of the spirits approaching you (which they do because you can feel them there....which is new for many spirits so they're curious)...which is just silly because it doesn't make them go away.  Or you can learn to pay attention to those different feelings and acknowledge that there is someone in the room and if you feel uncomfortable by them you can ask them to go away.

Now here's the fun part. There's alot of things you can do being an energy sensory psychic. You can hone your abilities so that you can do things like feel if someone is in the room. You can focus your abilities and do a sweep of the room you are sitting in. You can (as I have) learn to feel inside a persons body for health concerns. It's all up to you.

But in short, no you are not crazy.

You might, but then one would have to believe that spirits are real. Or your mind could be tricking you and you are going insane...we cannot tell you for sure as we are not experiencing what you are.

I don't think those are the only possibilities. In fact, there is a great span in between those two possibilities. From what you've told me, I think it's just more likely that your senses are being fooled, or perhaps that your senses (hearing, sight) are more sensitive than you realize so that you can pick up the cues if someone is sneaking behind you. You haven't provided enough detail about what shadows you've seen, but it's certainly not unusual for people to see shadows or be fooled by tricks of light and shadow. So I don't see anything unusual here that would suggest you have a paranormal ability or that you can sense spirits.

By the way, don't place too much importance on the crystal craze. It's one of those psychic fads which really draw on "science-ism", using scientific-sounding jargon to sound legit, but it's really just flim-flam. Crystals can't produce any energy aside from an electric charge when compressed (piezoelectric effect), but this charge is minuscule (much less than your average static shock), dissipates quickly unless completely insulated, and does not have any healing or "protection" properties. Furthermore, crystals do not emit frequencies of any kind unless they are in an electronic circuit.

You're in good company :)

First, and most importantly, it's important for you to know that you will not experience any negative energies unless you allow it. If you ever get freaked out or feel something negative, the best thing to do is to laugh. lol, I know this sounds crazy, but figure; physiologically we are stronger (and our energy is increased) when we are happy, and we are weaker when we experience fear.

I have experienced what you are describing for years, as have many of my friends. Also, I work in the field of mental health (so I am very grounded and in touch with reality). Honestly, in my experience, if you're comfortable with what's happening around you then there's nothing to worry about. The issues arise (both in the paranormal world and world of psychology) when one's experiences (internally and externally) are causing problems in social or psychological functioning.

If you or others around you have reported changes in your personality or level of functioning, it might be a good idea to see a professional to help you maintain sound mental health.

But, again, if you feel that this is not creating any difficulty or deficits for you, then view it as a gift (I do)!
