Do I have to be the owner of the vehicle to be the "primary driver" on the insurance policy? In Ontario, CAN.

  1. No.  The primary driver, though, is going to be the highest rated driver on the policy.

    Example:  if there's one car, owned by mom, and a 17 year old and mom, two drivers, mom can be the primary driver.

    If mom owns two cars, then the 17 year old is going to be primary driver on one of them, even if they're both owned by mom.  

    YOUR AGENT should be able to explain how your company assigns drivers to vehicles.
