Do I have to bleach sand dollars?

I don't like the look of pure white sand dollars- to me, they just look fake. What can I do to sanitize/prevent odor without bleaching them white? Also, they were already dead when I found them, if that matters.

I am not sure, I have always bleached them.  As an alternative I can think of maybe lysol because that should disinfect them as well.

I dont think there is a way around bleaching them I guess follow the instructions below and I wonder if you were to keep them in the bleach for a shorter ammount of time?
