Question:

Do I have to buy extra equipment in order to have an HD box?

We just got this "50" samsung flat sreen tv and we wanted to get an HD box we have io(cablevision) and its free with them but do we have to buy any extra wires before they can put it in or do they give you all that stuff with the box if anybody can help that would be great thanx:)

  1. To hook up your box you will need either some s-video cables they look like your regular white, red , and yellow cords or you can use an HD cable.  But to be honest you won't know unless you see the back of the HD box itself to see what cords it uses.  In the meantime wait till the installer arrives before buying anything because your cable provider normally should supply it for you.


  2. You have to have an HD cable box, you're cable company should supply you with the component cables with it, it's five wires.  I went and got HDMI cables instead, it's one wire and a better picture and audio, they're expense though.

  3. you may want to have a HDMI (or if your box doesn't support HDMI, component video & seperate audio cables) to be able to actually see your video in HD.
