Do I have to contact the state so i can home school my daughter?

Question

My daughter is 5 yrs old and is in a young 5's program at her school. I have decided to keep her home and home school her for the rest of the year and send her back to school next year. Since she was in headstart for 2 yrs and now in young 5s i don't know if i have to register her with the state for home schooling. I have looked on the internet and i couldn't find the answer. I live in MIchigan. I don't want you all to think this is stupid to pull her out half way through the year but there are circumstances that have made me decide this was the right choice. So please help!!!
