I bought some pancheta that is sliced very thin and says cook thoroughly but how do I cook it then? If I pan fry it like bacon it cooks so fast it burns on one side before the other side gets done but faster than I can flip it

  1. Lower the heat to about medium, because it is so thin it will only take seconds on each side

  2. Yes, cook it first.  Lower your heat.  And next time, get it sliced about 1/4 thick, so you can dice it up and then fry it.

  3. I have read that it is to be chopped up, browned quickly in a heavy fry pan while stirring constantly,  and then added to Italian sauces.  This gives the sauces a good flavor.

  4. I cook my bacon and other products between 2 pieces of paper towel on a heatproof plate in the microwave, do the same for the pancetta, just cook it for 1 minute 30 seconds on high.

  5. I bake mine for 10 mins at 325. They get very crispy and are great on top of salads, alternative to a BLT and so on. If you pan fry cook at Med heat til the endges brown and curl a bit then flip and drain on paper towels.

Panchetta is great thicker cut and cooked up for bacon bits too on salads
