Do I have to get a Associates Degree before going to a four year college from community college?

I was wondering if I have to get it because I want to get my bacholers degree in nutrition at CAL .. So can I just transfer without it? I have quite a few classes to take like chem and all that (assist.org) and i was wondering.. [e-mail] if u want clear thoughts or more info.

No, you can go straight to a 4-year college as long as your grades are good enough, or you can transfer from community college without earning a degree first.

I just transferred to a four year college from a community college and I did not get an associates degree.  I just looked at the general education requirements at my university, and completed those at the community college to save money.  Look on the schools website under admissions and they will tell you what you have to do to transfer.

If you keep a similar major, the majority of your credits should transfer to a four year school, even if you have not earned an Associate. The only thing I would really worry about is if your looking at an entirely different major. Reason being, while all of your credits will probably still transfer, your probably going to have used up all of your "elective" credit requirements, meaning you'll have to take strictly major related courses, which could really impact your schedule (you'll end up a semester with an 8AM, 2PM, and night class two days a week or something). Similar major though, most, if not all of your credits should transfer.

You can definitely transfer to a 4-year college before getting your Associates.  Honestly, the only degree that's really important is your Bachelor's degree, and that will come from graduating from that 4-year school.  You can transfer after a semester of being in community college, if you want.  That's what I'm doing!
