Do I have to get a bigger pot for my bamboo plant?

I've had a bamboo plant for a few years now and its starting to get big , I still have it in the original pot I bought it in ( which isn't very big)

it is alright in there or should I get a bigger pot for the roots?

A bigger pot would help, eventually the plant will become root-bound, and suffer in health.  The problem is, especially with bamboo, is that the roots will keep growing, causing need for a bigger, and bigger, pot.  To eliminate it from becomming root-bound, once you have it in the largest pot you desire to plant in, you can take the plant out of the pot, cut off one third of the roots, and re-plant adding soil to the pot.  This may stress your plant during the first weeks of the process, so add vitamin B-1 according to the mixing instructions and water thouroughly.  Also keep your plant in the shade during the first two weeks of this process.  Hope this helps.


  2. it won't hurt to get a bigger pot just make sure when you re-pot the plant you try and give the roots some room to breath.take your hands and free up some of the roots from the sides.
