Do I have to go to a psychiatrist to get a prescription for Ambien?

I was wondering if I could just get a script from my regular doctor - it seems like a pain in the *** to find a psychiatrist for this one medication.

  1. ambien is mainly prescribed as a sleep aid so yes your regular doctor can prescribe it
