Do I have to go to basic to go to Army OCS if I'm prior enlisted AF? I believe I heard of another school people like me go to.

  1. yes, the way it works, anytime you shift to a "harder" branch, you have to go thru that branch's basic training....to go from marines to army, you wouldnt, but from AF, which is way less ground combat oriented compared to the army, you definately would have to go thru basic before OCS....

  2. I'm not 100% sure, but I think Army and Air Force BMT work together. I know it does depend on how long ago you got out of the AF. I'm sure you'll have to go to another tech school to learn your new job though.

  3. No, you won't go through basic training prior to leaving for OCS.

The other school you are talking about is the WTC (Warrior Transition Course) this is a four week course the Army sends prior service enlistees when they're coming over to the Army. It's pretty unlikely you'll have to go there as well.

Everyone I know that's gone from AF enlisted to Army Officer has gotten orders straight to OCS. I don't see why it would be different for you.

    Good luck.
