Do I have to go to the post office to mail an international letter?

I have a single plain envelope letter that I need to mail from Florida to Ireland. I know how much the postage will be because I've mailed a letter before...but I went to the post office to mail it because I thought i had to. The weather is dreadful here right now, we're in the middle of a tropical storm and I would really like to get the letter mailed out soon. If I know how much it'll cost to mail, can I just put the postage office and drop it off in the regular mail?

Yes, you can  just put it in the regular mail.
