Question:

Do I have to have a seal going to the junction box for my inground gunnite pool light?

The junction box is behind the deck and lower than the water level. The pvc from the the junction box to my breaker box is broken and leaking water so the level is down a few inches.

Do I need to seal the pipe behind the lamp? I was thinking I could raise the junction box (if there is enough wire) to keep water out of the pvc pipe to the breaker box.

  1. think about it:if the wire connection from your pool light to the wires in your breaker box is below water level, whats going to happen when you turn on light?.....obviously,the junction box should be at least 18" above water level...the leaking water is the LEAST of your problems electrocution should be your main concern!

  2. seal the junction box just in case something happened
