Hi. So this is my 3'rd week on it and i hate it. I haven't had a smoke for 7 days now and i don't care to have one. Everytime i take the pill which is in the am and pm i always feel sick. I hate the re way it makes me feel. I don't think i really need it anymore. So why is this a 10 week program? I don't want to feel sick for 10 weeks. I have a baby to take care of.:) does anyone out there know about this stuff? do u think it's ok to stop taking it???

  1. no you dont need to take it anymore because youv quict already it is out of your system

  2. chances are very high that if you stop taking it now you will start smoking again. you need to stay smoke free for a good amount of time 10 weeks and more , to really cut down the cravings and likelihood of you taking up smoking again. the reason you dont care to have one, is because the champix is working. if you stop the champix, your cravings will return. i know it sucks taking the pills, but just be strong and finish the 10 week cycle please... call your pharmacy or go to doc and tell them about your symptoms and ask them how to make them go away or to make the pills easier on you. if you dont wanna do that, message me and i will try to help you out. whatever you do just dont abruptly stop taking them without proper consultation. just keep on track u are already 30% done.

  3. There's no way of saying because everyone is different, But remember that it's a partial nicotine agonist. That means that it's substituting for the nicotine you get from cigarettes, which is what keeps you from getting withdrawal symptoms. If you stop taking it now, you'll lose that effect and you may find that you start smoking again. So I'd stick with it as long as possible.

PS -- The depression that someone mentioned is a known side effect, but most people don't get it. Those who do should obviously use something else.

  4. an easy way is to buy nicotine gum, and if you ever get a craving you just have a peice of gum, but since you are on a 10 week program you have to keep taking the pills or they could be a shock to your system, try having a  little bit to eat right before you take your pill it will line your stomach and may stop you from feeling sick. Hope i helped

  5. I had the same problem so I stopped taking it.  I would get nauseous and even threw up.  I haven't had a smoke since December 15.  It is going to take will power no matter what.  They recommend 10 weeks but why be miserable.

  6. I have just started taking Chantix.. and I am on my second week. If you feel like you are done smoking, and they are making you that sick, you can stop them! (Or you can call your Dr. and ask for something like phenergan which is an anti nausea pill if you feel the need to keep smoking). You can also try good ol' pepto bismal.

So far, they are making me AGITATED which is a main side effect, and if this continues, I am going to cease the pills as well. Congrats on making it so far!

Personally, I think they make it a ten week program so you pay into their stock! (I know someone who only used the one month starter pack and was successful)... but no, it won't hurt you at all to stop.

  7. hi

  8. I have taken this stuff also, and had the same experience. I quit taking it, then I started smoking again. Maybe you have more will-power than I do. I would strongly recommend that you stop taking the stuff. When I was taking it, I felt really tired, and could not get out of bed in the morning. I felt like I had taken pain meds or something, all sluggish and crappy. Then I started getting depressed. I would think about just jumping off of a bridge or something. I stopped taking it, and I felt like my old self again. I did not smoke for a few days after that. I did look it up online, and found that lots of people that have taken it have killed themselves! YUCK! I guess you can do it the slow way or the fast way... Again, I would not recommend this medication to anyone!

  9. u should just take it for like one more week maybe just to make sure the addiction is gone..but if u really feel like u dont need it just stop taking it.

    congrats on not smoking!!

  10. Tough. maybe you shouldn't have started smoking...Deal. TAke care of your kids and deal. You have to finish

  11. Well if it's making you feel sick, then theirs not really any point, now is there?
