Do I have to know a monolog for a casting?

if I go to a casting do I have to know an own mololog of me or are they going to give me one in the audition?

  2. Usually agents ask for monologues and often also for theatre auditions. Film and television auditions often consist of a cold read of part of a script.

    In the case that you are asked to perform a monologue, you need to have it ready and not only that. You should have several different types of monologues ready to perform at any given time, so that you can be ready to give the casting director or agent what he/she wants.

If you are going to audition for an agent, they are probably going to ask you for a monologue.  If you don't have one prepared, they'll probably just give you something to read for them.  I suggest having a monologue prepared, though, because it will show that you can memorize a script and perform and that you can be prepared.  It just makes you look better.  But for an audition for like a commercial or voice-over or film or something, your agent normally emails you a script or two that you should either memorize or be familiar with.
