Do I have to let my 4 year old son watch me pee to teach him to stand? ?

I'm uncomfortable and awkward about doing that, but I remember that's how my dad taught me.

if your uncomfortable then you shouldn't do it! but maybe you should look at why you are uncomfortable!

it will come with age as he goes to school and stuff like that he will want to pee standing up or that is what happened with my son! an now i am stuck trying to get him to put the seat down! he is 6

Yes, it's a good idea. To help with his aim, make a game of it. Shoot the cheerios in the bowl. Children learn most of what they know, by looking at us to gauge OUR reactions. So if WE fear something, then they know to be scared of - whatever it is: snakes, creepy crawlies, s*x, being nude, etc.

Be honest with him and just say you are a bit uncomfortable about doing it but believe it's important to show him how to go about peeing. He will ask why; that's your clue to either open up about it or shut down. It's really up to you. Children accept things at face value, without judgments. You may just find he takes you as you are, no matter what.

It worked for you with your dad and it will work for your boy.

My boy is 4 and my wife had him sitting down all the time. Kids will do what mom and dad do. It'll take a few weeks but you need to bite the bullet. He probably won't figure out how to aim till he gets married. Make sure he leaves the lid up when he's done.

If you're uncomfortable with your own son then just send him outside to pee.  He'll figure it out.

from 1 dad to another. you don,t have to do that. when he has to pee, go with him and show him the way us guys do it, he will catch on after a few times.

do you have too? no but is it a normal thing for a mans son to see him pee or naked yes. How else do you think he will earn if you don't teach by example. Why are you uncomfortable letting your own son see you pee? thats just weird.

There are books for that. I assume you dont want to help him stand and do it. But showing him shouldnt be that bad. He is four. Why be embarassed if a four year old sees your privates?

you dont have to but to teach him u guys both pee into a toilet together and teach him how to do it h**l b doing it too so it wont b as awkward thats wat my dad did with me

times have changed my friend. lol I use to work at a daycare and we had to help the parents potty train their children. You just have to stay calm. either let him sit till he is ready to stand . and when he is ready to stand you just have to place him in front of the toilet and im sure there will be some messes but thats how its going to go. Just show him that he has to hold it to not spray everywhere.
