Question:

Do I have to pay VAT on ebay as a buyer?

Couple of days, I've seen a laptop on ebay and it cost £799. So, is that price already included VAT?

If yes, how can I ask the proof of VAT paid?

If no, how can I pay the VAT?

Many Thanks

  1. No you don't have to pay VAT, if in doubt email the seller.

  2. VAT is normally included unless specified.

If it is not included they will provide you with a VAT receipt

  3. The seller can only charge VAT if they are a VAT-registered company. They must say so if they're going to add anything on above the advertised price. If the 799 includes VAT, you 'll probably get an invoice that shows the VAT contribution.

  4. On UK ebay, it must state that it excludes tax on the listing, otherwise it includes it, or it isnt charged by the seller. you would nothave to pay it unless the listing specifically states this.
