I want to buy an oyster card in London to travel for a week, so to use as a travelcard. I have some questions:

1) Can I pay by cash ?

2) How much is the difference of the price between the travelcard valid only on the undergrond and the one valid both for underground and buses? Thank you for your answer.

  1. You can pay in cash, a credit card or a debit card.

Try this link for more about Oyster Cards

    http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=na...

  2. If you buy it in the tobacconists or a tube station, you can pay cash.  On-line, you need to use a credit or debit card.

  3. You can pay by cash.

If you use your oyster card upto the price of a travel card then i turns into one

  4. can't pay by cheque

by the way you can't have a travelcard just for underground but you can have a bus pass just for the buses and trams

  5. I only ever pay for mine in cash - at tube stations and newsagents.

Travelcards will allow you to travel on both tube and buses (and overground stations within zone 6)

Bus passes are just for the buses.

  6. You can add money to the oyster card by cash or by card at the automatic machines or at the staff ticket offices.

If you plan to buy a week travel card go straight to the ticket office and ask for a Oyster Card with a 7 day travel card for zones ? to ?.  They will charge you a £3 deposit for the card (+the the price of the ticket) and charge it all togther. You can pay in cash.

After that you can use the automatic machines.  If you buy a travel card the buses are included and you dont have to pay anymore.  If you just want to use buses and not trains buy a 7 day bus pass.

If you want to travel outside the zones on your travel card you will need to top up the PAY AS YOU GO, which again an be done at the machines.

(if you are arriving at a major station the que at the ticket office may be very long.  Look around for a machine on the wall that dispenses oyster cards (different to the ticket machines) and then go to the automatic machines to buy your travelcard.  You will save a lot of time over waiting to served at the ticket office.  (not all stations have these oyster card machines))
