Do I have to pay car tax?

I live in Pennsylvania. I wanna know that if I buy a car from New Jersey, do I have to pay car tax for both the states??Or do I only have to pay car tax to state of NJ?

  1. in most cases you pay the tax on the car where you register it.i lived in massachusetts and moved to florida and did not have to pay a tax on the car since i paid taxes on it in massachusetts


  2. You will only pay tax in the state in which you will be registering the car. The dealership cannot charge you tax if you do not live in the state the dealership is in.

  3. if you purchase a car from a dealer inform them at the time of purchase that you live in PA and need to have the car registered there. if it's from an individual you may need a signed title,  bill of sale all of which are notarized.
