Question:

Do I have to pay for BT to connect my line?

I'm currently with TalkTalk for my phone and broadband, but they are pretty rubbish, so I want to switch to Sky. However for that I need a BT line. I had one previously in my house, then changed to rent the line from TalkTalk. Would it be free to reconnect my line to BT? On their webiste they say that if you've never had a BT line then it will cost 124.99, however at another point it says it will cost that if there isn't a working BT line in the property. I'm just confused whether I have to pay that fee or not. Thanks.

  1. If you have talk talk just now that is coming to you over a BT line, so there should be no charge for switching to another provider, but I am not sure that Sky does line rental.

If you are interested I use a couple of great providers for my phone service and broadband, both have excellent customer service depts where you can speak to people, plus the fact that later this year the phone company is bringing out its own extra special digital phone service, which will put it years ahead of all the other voip companies.

If you would like more details get back to me by email and I will pass addresses on to you.

  2. The actual "plastic & copper" is still physically there, all that's happened is that TalkTalk have taken over responsibility for paying the line rental to BT.  You pay TT, they pass it on the BT in effect. You won't need to pay for a complete new installation.

You can "return to BT" on here: http://www.offeratbt.com/callslinesbackt...

  3. TalkTalk uses a BT line so the answer is no !!!  as you already have one.

  4. With BT you always pay !!!!

  5. either use the web address already mentioned or call bt customer services on 0800800150 just take the sales option and when answered say you wish to talk to the customer options team as they deal with all customers coming to bt from another provider. they can also arrange for you to keep your current telephone number. they will confirm if any charges are involved.

  6. You already have a BT capable line - that's what TalkTalk uses to get into your house.

Call BT and tell them that you bwant to come back to them after being with TalkTalk.

They will tell you what it will cost - but is MUCH less than getting a new line installed.

  7. We would like to do the same, but maybe go with Tiscali....yes, a re-connection fee is about £70-£80 as you already have a BT line.
