Question:

Do I have to pay income tax in France on website revenue such as affiliate ads, google ads, links, etc?

I just moved to France to marry my fiance and would like to start a website about the city I live in (there's nothing in English). It would be mostly a hobby but I would use things like affiliate programs, googleAdsense, Amazon program, etc to make some extra money to pay for the website. I can't find any info on paying taxes on this income or if I need to file the business with any govt agency. Can someone help me, please? Thanks.

  1. Yes, you pay taxes on all income in France. But you might get exemption is the income is quite low.

Try to contact the local "ARCE" or Agence Régionale pour la Création d'Entreprise. They will help you for free and might get you some useful contacts.

If you expect to make a living from your website, you should probably contact a "boutique de gestion", the ARCE can give you addresses.

  2. APCE is the Agence Pour la Creation d'Enterprises in France.

They have a section in English giving info about different structures.

  3. I guess so.
