If I decide to handle my own auto personal injury case, do I have to provide a statement to the other AT FAULT insurers insurance company? I was an injured passenger in my sister's car and the other person was found to be 100% at fault by their own insurance company. Too, can I file a claim with my sister's insurance and my own insurance? I am not with the same auto insurance carrier (it's been about 2-3 months that I switched), but can I still claim with them? Thanks

  1. Yes, you have to provide a statement to the other insurance company.  If you were seriously hurt(meaning big medical bills) it is probably not a good idea to handle it yourself.  You should file a claim with the at fault insurance company first and not with your or your sister's carrier unless a problem develops and your claim is not being settled in a timely fashion(be patient--they will try to drag things out if they think you are desperate for money).  Medical bills should not be an issue--it is the pain and suffering that cause the big hassles.   Lost wages and property damage should not be an issue either but beware--they will try to underpay you every which way they can!  Good luck!!
