Question:

Do I have to replace the entire tub drain stopper?

I have a garden tub with a pull and twist drain stopper that I'm planning to turn into an indoor pond. I'm assuming the rubber gasket is dry since the water seeps out very slowly. Is there a way to make it pliable again? Can the rubber gasket be replaced or does the entire stopper have to be replaced? I was thinking about just using plumber tape around the gasket. Would this work or would it just be a mess when draining the tub for cleaning?

  1. do yourself a favor and replace the whole part it may take a little time now but it will prevent a lot of aggravation later when the quick fixes don't work

  2. If you take the pull and twist out you might be able to use an old fashion stopper on a chain.

  3. Go to this old house.com Thy have a video on how to repair it.I watched it about 3 weeks ago.
