  1. Yes you do.  SSI is based on need, and on family income.  If you don't report it, you will most likely end up having to pay back the SSI you got but weren't entitled to, with interest.

  2. Just like v b said, SSI is based on need. If you work, you have to claim it. so they can adjust your checks accordingly. If you don't report, you may have to pay the difference between your income and the SSI.  You also don't want the penalty, cuz they can probably take money from your paycheck as a garnishment.

  3. Yes.

SSI is based on need.  Any income to anyone living in the household is to be reported.  If you forget to report income and it makes a difference, you'll have to pay it back with penalties and interest.

  4. This answer assumes the children are receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits.

Yes, you need to report it since your children's SSI payment is subject to parental deeming. This means that your income affects the amount of benefit your children receive. When they first were qualified the payment was based on your income. If that changes--up or down--then so will the payment.  At some point the income is to high for them to qualify for the payment. This happened to us a few years ago. If any money is overpaid, 10% of their checks will be deducted to recoup it. Fortunately, unlike the IRS there are no penalties and interest added. If they no longer receive benefits, then whoever is the representative payee (presumably you or your husband) will need to repay it either in a lump sum or installments.

  5. Are you receiving SSI or SSDI for them?

If you are receiving SSI then you must report all household income as SSI is a needs-based entitlement.

However if your children are receiving SSDI -- Social Security Disability -- then you do NOT need to report household income to the SSA, only any other income that the children receive from employment, if any.
