Do I have to sign-up for a yahoo email address to join a yahoo group? How to join using a different email addy

I notice it says yahoo ID [e-mail]

I want to use my own email, instead of another yahoo email address.

It is best to get a Yahoo mail account because it will not conflict your existing mail account and along with it you get yahoo messenger and be able to voice conference with the group of your choice. A nice bonus is that yahoo mail is a remote system and it has its own virus protection!

In order to join a group you must register with Yahoo. You would receive a Yahoo address but you can use your other email address as your alternate one for joining a group.

Or you can subscribe to the group as an email only member. You would not have access to the group's web features but could receive and send emails to/from the group. You would not need to register with Yahoo for this.
