Do I have to spell words right to be a good speller?

I mean can't I just say I'm a great speller and it be true?

Being a good speller by definition means that you spell things correctly all, or close to all of the time. If you're constantly misspelling things, then chances are, you are not a good speller.

To be a good speller you don't have to be able to get all words right, like supercalifragilisticexpiealidocious (or whatever it is). You just have to spell all the easier words right, like decieve.
