Do I have to subscibe to TiVo to use their brand of dvd recorders?

Hi James H ,

With the original TiVo series and early models of the series 2 you could do it. The newer TiVo's will not let you record at all.

The only way to avoid a monthly fee would be to buy one on eBay that has a lifetime subscription.

Well, you may be able to set up manual recordings, but you won't get any of the advanced features like Season Pass.
