Do I have to take the FCAT if I homeschool?

I currently homeschool and am with a virtual school (FLVS). The FCAT is the standardized test for Florida, do I have to take it?

  1. Being as you are enrolled as FLVS which is a Virtual school and not TRUE Homeschooling, then the answer is YES.

    With TRUE homeschooling (where the parent/guardian is in charge of all), you would not have to take the FCAT.

    By being enrolled at FLVS, you are still part of the Public School System and thus subject to their laws/rules.


  2. It depends upon the virtual school's policies and Florida's homeschool laws.

    Note: If your virtual school is a public school, paid for with public dollars than you will have to take the FCAT.
