I live in Canada and I am taking a CPR class. Do I actually have to touch mouths with another person? I am just getting over a cold sore and don't want to pass it on or get something from someone else.

  1. You will practice some skills with another person- but they only involve limited contact with hands.

When it comes to the breathing and CPR skills, you will work on a manikin that was prepped before you use it, and you will use a face mask and gloves, and disinfect it between uses.

We teach thousands of people a week, and have the art of keeping people safe and healthy to a science! :-)

  2. Well, when I took it we worked on a dummy. There are "shields" you can buy. (I have one somewhere.) But I recall reading that "mouth to mouth" was being discontinued with CPR.

    Ask your instructor!

  3. No you don't touch, you actually practise on a dummy and use a disposable mask
