He has an ear infection, I gave him his first dose at 3:00 PM. the bottle says to give in 12 hour increments, it is now midnight, would it be okay to give it to him now, or do i need to wake up in 3 hours to give it to him?

  1. It is best to do every 12 hrs like it says to keep the medication balanced out in his system

  2. Sometimes you can give them some more, but maybe use half the dosage after 6 - 8 hours, then the balance after that, you have to be really careful about medications especially with children, I know how painful it is to have ear infections as I have had them all my life, to the point where my eardrums have burst, and there has been blood and other yucky stuff on my pillow in the morning, my mum thought I was putting it on so didnt even get and dispirin, cried myself to sleep many a time over this, but prescription medicine is serious stuff, be very careful and get another opinion, maybe from the hospital, explain the situation, age etc as well, hope this has helped, I know its hard to see the little ones suffer and they do need their sleep to help also, goodluck and hope he feels better soon! :)

  3. look in the yellow pages in your area and find a 24-hour pharmacy and explain the situation and they will tell you whats right and whats not

  4. they did studies on amoxicillon  you shouldn't risk asking yahoo....call your physician. Let him tell you how often to take it. If something goes wrong you can always say..the Doc. told you. not yahoo...

  5. Always give the medicine exactly as the doctor says. You can hurt him if you do differently with many medications. He is worth the extra trouble.
