Question:

Do I have to watch all of an anime?

I want to get into Japanese culture but I'm afraid I'll look dumb if I start watching a show with 50 or so episodes already shown. Do I have to go back and watch them to be considered a "true" otaku?

Japanese culture not only is anime -.-

"Otaku" If you were in Japan, you do realize  that not everyone would understand that word?? That is commonly used in the states yes? Are you trying to be "anime otaku"? As they would put it in English words? "Otaku" can mean different things.. but what you are implying I am coming to the conclusion of anime..

I hope you learn a bit or two about my culture.

  2. no really. You can still be a fan but not watch every last episode.

Shoot. That is way to much anime.

  3. Fan = sure, go ahead and watch from there, subbed or dubbed.

True Otaku = Must watch from beginning, and be subbed not dubbed. (And you really shouldn't complain about it, if you are an otaku)

  4. not really, but you'll miss out on some of the action, which makes you want to watch it from episode 1.

but if the story have a very deep plot. you'll have a hard time understanding the story and ruin the mystery. and make you wish you should have watched from the begging.

  5. well....not really o.o but if you like something then you should watch it ^_^ and you wont look dumb...ive started one with 100 episodes before and watched them all ^_^

  6. Maybe you should start with some well known shorter anime, such as Death Note, which has about 36 episodes.
