Do I have to wear retainer to school?

I just got my retainer today and im thinking about whether i wanna wear it to school. If i don't where it for 6 hours a day i don't think it'll matter much, seeing as i waited 12 days for my retainer after getting my braces off and my teeth didn't move at all. Do u think i should wear it or is six hours not going to make a big difference?

take it from me..wear it..your teeth will move..but probably only at night should be fine..i couldnt talk well with mine in so i just never wore it and all of my teeth shifted..

I agree with Celtic_Goddess. Earlier this month I went to my orthodontist and he said you only wear your retainer at night while you sleep.

A retainer is a total pain.  But the more you wear it, the sooner you will get rid of it.

Your teeth can relapse very quickly in the first few weeks after having your braces off. It WILL make a difference if you don't wear your retainer to school. It is important to wear your retainer all the time unless you are eating or playing sport for the first 6 months. After these 6 months you can start wearing it only at night time. Your teeth are expensive. These 12 days would have been avoided if moulds of your teeth to create the retainers could be taken whilst still wearing braces. I suggest you wear them unless you want your teeth to relapse. Your teeth at the front are very movable especially for these first 6 months. They are not completely set into your mouth... I don't know how to explain it. But DO wear your retainers or you will find yourself back to square one and having to get braces all over again.

I think that you should where them AT ALL times. I know kids that didn't where their retainers, and their teeth moved. They had to get braces again. So, I would suggest that you where them at all times.

If you can get away with it, I would just wear it at home and while I slept.

Wear it to sleep and take it off in the morning before school.

Check with your orthodontist! Why risk reversing all that works and wasting all that money you have used to fix your teeth.

no, you're only supposed to wear it at night unless instructed otherwise. the dentist should have told you what to do with it.
