I don't know what happened but i'll explain. Firstly, I have McAfee the latest version with firewall for internet protection. I'm using Windows Vista Home Edition, 32bit.

Now for my problem.. I was using the internet (I was on Ebay) when I lost connection so I thought I restart my computer. And I did. When I restarted it a dialog box in my task bar said it was installing a driver named, "Ovtgavc&DVD&RW GD'7736A& ATA Device" under the type of, "DVD/CD-ROM drives."

I bought my laptop built in with a DVD/RW drive which can burn CD's in CD-R or CD-RW and DVD-R/RWs. When I looked at my computer through start - computer and checked the DVD/RW drive it instead said, "CD-Drive!," location (E:) Why is it not showing the regular name which said before, "DVD/RW" drive?

Please help, I didn't mess with the driver it just happened when I restarted my laptop after using the internet. And I didn't install any program without proper license. What can I do to fix it or something, thanks.

  1. Right click My computer on start menu>>properties>>hardware tab>> device manager>> expand CD/DVD drives >>right click the one>>properties>> Read about it on the first tab. try using the uninstal option(a few tabs across) and then hit install after you reboot on the same tab.
