Do I hold the pick wrong?

I have been playing guitar for about 6 months now and I hold my guitar pick with my thumb and middle finger. My teacher says its fine, but I was just wondering if this is ok or if I should start using my thumb and index instead, thanks.

It's ok.  It is unorthodox but some of the best players do unorthodox things.  

If your teaching has ok'd it then fine, but is your teacher a "guitar teacher" or just a music teacher.  Does he play guitar himself?  

I would worry about you long term technique.  Ability to hybrid-pick, palm mute, sweep pick etc.  To me it seems like an easy thing to correct 6 months in instead of 2 years when it becomes a handicap.  Then again, it may never be a handicap.

  i hold my pick lots of ways i also use finger picks i dont think there is a wrong way  as long as you get the sound you want
