Do I need Itunes to use a new Ipod Classic?

I'm considering purchasing a new Ipod Classic 80g. But I'm concerned about Itunes for reasons which don't really matter. The bottom like is... I DO NOT WANT ITUNES!!

Must I have and use Itunes in order to have and use an Ipod classic? Is there other compatible music software organisers that will work well with the ipod classic? Thanks for any info.

  4. there are plenty of other softwares out there you can use, but they are not official so might not work as well. itunes is the safest and best when it comes to ipods.

  5. No, you do NOT need iTunes.  There are plenty of other apps that can load/manage songs on your iPod.  Winamp has an excellent iPod plugin that can be used as an alternative.
