Do I need License to Ride a Jet-Ski?

Im 16 years old and live in Muskego, Wisconsin; do I need a special license to ride our jet-ski.

i'm not sure about in Wisonsin but in Texas you can ride a jet ski at any age, you can drive it as long as you have a person 16 or over sitting behind you (2 or more seaters only) that would be able to corect you before you got in an accident, (like grab the wheel) but if you're over 16 you can drive by yourself. i dont think anyone would stop you, i've been driving jet ski's by myself since i was 13, if they ask how old, just say 16 and if they ask for you social security card, who the h**l carries it to a lake w/ them? just make sure that the adults that you are with will agree with you and say that you're 16. i'm 16 now though so i'm free to rip it up! have fun!!!!

I don't know about Wisconsin but in Cali. you have to be 16 or older to ride by yourself or you can be any age if you ride with anyone older then 16.  Call or get on the website for your local Department of Motor Vehicles or whatever it may be called in  Wisconsin.

I am a marine deputy in Michigan. In Michigan, anyone born after 1978 needs to get a boaters safety card to operate a Jet Ski. The date of 1978 will never change, meaning that one day everyone regardless of age will need them. They are basically treating Jet Skis like motorcycles and the cycle endorsement. The reason is because Jet Skis have a much higher risk of being in an accident.

In most states you must be 16 and have a boating licence. You can go online to your states watersport laws and find out.

According to the Boating Regs, available at www.dnr.wi.gov, you must be at least 12 years old. People from 12-16 years old must carry a state approved boating safety certificate.

I would suggest you get yourself a copy of the regs and make absolutely sure you know them.

to ride a jet-ski probably no, but to drive. if your a little kid under 16 i'm pretty sure you don't as long as you have a lisened driver on the jet-ski with you. but you should check with like your local authorities and or your lake, ocean, river authorities to make sure.
