Hi.I'm planning a summer vacation to France, Italy, Spain, Holland and the UK. Do I need a Schengen Visa or just ordinary Visa? And if I do need a Schengen Visa, do I apply to only one of the embassies, eg. French embassy?I'm a Mongolian by nationality, but my residence is Japan.

Thanks in advance for your help.

  1. First, you will need a visa to enter the UK. A link for the application on-line is supplied. As for the other countries, you can apply for the schengen visa at this link below. BTW, the UK visa could be applied for at the Uk embassy in Tokyo.**

    Have a safe trip!

  2. if you plan on going to the UK ? it does not belong in the schengen zone ,not yet implemented ,therefore you will need a visa for the UK

here is a map of all schengen countries :

Schengen Visa from the Embassy/Consulate of the Schengen country they intend to visit first. After this, they may visit any or all of the Schengen countries as tourists or for business without hindrance. They are not required to get separate visas for all the (Schengen) European countries they wish to visit

Italy is harder to get a visa ,and so is France right now .....

for visas application for the UK,only the UK embassy in Tokyo accept applications ,

  3. you can go to cibt.com and enter the countries you will visit and your citizenship information and they will tell you the full details.  they also have a number where you can call in person and talk to a person who will answer the questions for you.  there is no charge to get the information, only a charge if you use their services for passport/visa services.

  4. Americans don't need a visa to travel to UK and EU nations. Besides, when you get into any EU member country, you can move around from one EU country to another without problem.  Just make sure you have your US passoprt with you when travelling point to point.

But as you are a Mongolian subject, it's best that you refer to each nation's embassy to find out.  Remember that if you are travelling from one country to another VIA another country, it's best that you call that nation's embassy to see if you'd need a visa even for a brief stop-over to move from one country to another.
