  1. No as long as you dont power it from the mains so it comes under the same rules as old hand held tv's so dont worry and enjoy tv

  2. You'll find the jobsworths at the BBC have every angle covered, basically if you watch any BBC programme, they expect you to pay a licence fee. Good question, it's been a sore point with me for ages!

  3. nope as you aren't using a t.v cable

  4. You need a TV Licence to use any television receiving equipment such as a TV set, digital box, DVD or video recorder, PC, laptop or mobile phone to watch or record television programmes as they're being SHOWN on TV.

  5. Having worked at the BBC I can answer this one for you. The TV license covers RECEVING TV BROADCASTS AS THEY ARE BROADCAST.

    Thus:

-Watching News 24 live on your PC - yes, you need a license.

-Watching pre-recorded bulletins (news video etc) - no license needed.

-Listening to Radio 1 live online - no license needed.

-Watching a live simulcast of Eastenders while it is shown on BBC1 - need a license.

-Watching Eastenders on the iPlayer - no license needed as it was shown on TV earlier.
