Question:

Do I need a 2GB SD card for my camera?

I was wondering how many photos and how much video a 2 GB SD card can hold. I don't take a ton of photos or video but I will be going to Washington DC soon. Would it be a good idea getting the 2 GB or should I opt for 1 GB.

  1. Get a 2G card.

  2. Depending on your camera, it varies how many images you can fit on each memory card.

If you have a small camera (say 5 or 6 megapixels) then a 1gb is alright as the average file size for each picture is not huge.

If you have a large camera (say 10 to 15 megapixels) then a 2gb is advisable as images taken at full resolution are usually very big as far as file sizes are concerned.

Here in England the 1GBs are about $16 each and the 2GB are about $20 each. So if you spend slightly more on a 2GB you get twice the amount of memory (allowing you to take even more pictures on either camera).

My personal recommendation would be purchasing a 2gb memory card (I have two of these myself).

  3. Before buyin hi capacity and hi-speed flash media, check manual or manufc. website whether the chip is supported by the camera

  4. Hi Alex,

You can never have too much memory as long as your camera supports it. I would recommend you get a 2GB card. You can find them easily under $20.

In fact go here and you can get a 2 GB SD card for $10.99 postpaid - http://www.supermediastore.com/search.ht...
