Question:

Do I need a 6-month checkup for contact lenses?

On the website of my opticians it says I need a consultation, trial of contact lenses and aftercare after 6 months. To cut a long story short, I have wore contact lenses a couple of years ago, perhaps 1.5 years now, and I haven't worn them since. Now I want to go back onto them, but do I need another pre-trial, consultation and keep going back for the aftercare after 6 months, i.e. the checkup?

Thanks.

  1. Yes, do check ur eyesight every 6 months

  2. most eye places you need to renew the prescrip. once a year.  i wouldnt think you would need to guy 6 months at a time unless you have major eye problems.  and you will be having to pay more!  walmart is good. and they do once a year.

  3. YES!  Contacts wear is actually a traumatic experience for your cornea... its also a medical device. So yes you have to go thru a fitting every year (if its with the same dr. it will go faster) but if you jump around, the new dr wont know your history and to be sure they will do the whole show again...

The 6mon thing.. well.. they are YOUR eyes and you only get one pair, I would go just to be sure your eyes are still healthy...
